Reasons to Avoid Being Angry& Argumentative…

Don’t Dispute & Don’t Get Angry

1) وَعِبَادُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَمۡشُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ هَوۡنً۬ا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلُونَ قَالُواْ سَلَـٰمً۬ا

“And when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with ‘Salamaa’ (peaceful words of gentleness).” (Surah Al-Furqan, 25:63)

2) وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشۡهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِٱللَّغۡوِ مَرُّواْ ڪِرَامً۬ا

“If they pass by some vain speech or play, they pass by it with dignity.” (Surah Al-Furqan, 25:72)

3) وَٱقۡصِدۡ فِى مَشۡيِكَ وَٱغۡضُضۡ مِن صَوۡتِكَ‌ۚ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ ٱلۡأَصۡوَٲتِ لَصَوۡتُ ٱلۡحَمِيرِ (١٩) أَلَمۡ تَرَوۡاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَأَسۡبَغَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعَمَهُ ۥ ظَـٰهِرَةً۬ وَبَاطِنَةً۬‌ۗ وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يُجَـٰدِلُ فِى ٱللَّهِ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ۬ وَلَا هُدً۬ى وَلَا كِتَـٰبٍ۬ مُّنِيرٍ۬ (٢٠) وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُواْ بَلۡ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ‌ۚ أَوَلَوۡ ڪَانَ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنُ يَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ (٢١)

“Be modest in thy bearing and subdue thy voice. Lo! The harshest of all voices is the voice of the ass. (19) See ye not how Allah hath made serviceable unto you whatsoever is in the skies and whatsoever is in the earth and hath loaded you with His favours both without and within? Yet of mankind is he who disputes concerning Allah, without knowledge or guidance or a scripture giving light. (20) And if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame? (21)” (Surah Luqman, 31:19-20)

4) “There are no people who went astray after having been guided except for indulging in disputation.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

5) Rasulullah (SAW) repeated three times: “Those who search deeply for confusing questions have perished.” (Muslim)

6) “Do not dispute with your brother, ridicule him, nor promise him and then break your promise.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

7) `Ayesha (RA) narrated that Rasulullah (SAW) said, “The most hated person with Allah is the most quarrelsome person.” (Al-Bukhari)

8) Rasulullah (SAW) said: “The one initiating abuse incurs the sin of abusing as long as the other did not return it.” (Muslim)

9)  “The believer does not defame abuse, disparage, nor vilify.” (Al-Tirmidhi, Sahih)

10) Rasulullah (SAW) said, “He who is victorious over his passion at the time of anger is the strongest among you. He who forgives having the power to release (his anger and take revenge) is the most patient among you.”(Al-Baihaqi in Shu’ab Al-Imaan)

11) Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated, “Rasulullah (SAW) said, ‘The strong person is not he who has physical strength but the person is strong if he can control his anger.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

12) Ibn ‘Abbas (RA) narrated, the Rasulullah (SAW) said, “And when you get angry, keep silent.” (Ahmad, Al-Tabarani, and Al-Bayhaqi)

13) Rasulullah (SAW) said, “Anger is a burning coal. It burns in the heart.” (Al-Tirmidhi and Al-Bayhaqi)

14)  “Nobody swallows a more bitter pill than that of anger—seeking the satisfaction of Allah.” (Ibn Majah)

15) A nomad said to Rasulullah (SAW) “Advise me.” And Rasulullah (SAW) said, “If a man defamed you with what he knows about you, do not defame him with what you know about him. For the sin is against him.” The nomad said, “I never abused any person after that.”
